Charred to life
HIIL: An Exclusive Scandinavian Collection
With HIIL, Woodstoxx introduces a carefully selected Scandinavian collection of charred wood to the Belgian market.
A brand distinguished by its refined aesthetics, technical precision and respect for nature.
HIIL works with circular side streams of PEFC-certified Finnish pine, refined through a controlled charring process on the world’s only energy-producing charring line.
The result is façade timber with a premium finish – non-toxic, waste-negative and consistent in quality.
What makes HIIL unique
001
Circular & PEFC-certified
Finnish pine that would normally remain unused in construction is given a second life as high-quality façade timber.
002
Energy-producing & waste-negative
Produced on the world’s only charring line that generates its own energy — a process that consumes less than it creates.
003
Consistent & naturally protected
A controlled surface charring of 3–5 mm, finished with natural oil that stabilises colour without residue.
004
Scandinavian aesthetics
Calm tones and textures, from deep black to bright white – refined materials with understated architectural presence.
The process
Wood Charring
Charring is an ancient technique where the wood surface is lightly burned to create a protective carbon layer.
HIIL applies this principle using a modern, energy-producing line: ignited with biogas, sustained by the wood’s own energy.
The result is a consistent surface texture with reduced energy use and lasting quality.
A unique position
Innovation & sustainability
HIIL combines circular raw materials with an energy-positive production process.
Each board is made from PEFC-certified Finnish pine, sourced from surplus streams not used for structural construction due to natural variations. Through fire and natural oil, the wood is elevated into premium façade timber — durable, toxin-free and honest in its expression.
