More than 70 kilometres on foot, through the Scottish Highlands. That was the challenge the Highway Group set for itself during a multi-day journey along the iconic West Highland Way.
For three days, colleagues from Woodstoxx, Belgiqa, Unicus and The Hub walked side by side through landscapes far removed from the daily reality of meetings, projects and deadlines. Accompanied by a live band, the experience took on a character that went beyond a traditional team building.
Because somewhere along the trail, it stops being about the distance.
There is an energy within this group that is difficult to describe and impossible to ignore. It becomes visible in the way effort is shared, in how people instinctively step in for one another, and in the moments where no one looks away when things become demanding.
For Robbert Desmet, experiences like these are intentional.
“When people go through something demanding together, a different kind of connection emerges. Shared effort creates trust. And that trust is essential within a team.”
Walking proved to be the right format for that. The rhythm of the trail creates space for conversations that rarely happen within the structure of a working day. Three days moving from point A to point B, without hierarchy taking the lead.
The Highway Group brings together four complementary companies with a shared focus on wood, architecture and quality. Each company contributes from its own expertise, while remaining connected through a common culture and way of working.
Some experiences stay with you long after the trail ends.
This was one of them.
