Our Zwarthout collection consists of wooden planks that have been fire-treated, inspired by a traditional Japanese technique: Shou Sugi Ban.
The result is a high-end range of cladding options made from blackened, charred wood.
You can choose between Zwarthout with various protective finishes or matte, charred boards.
Charred Douglas
Western European Douglas fir is known for its pronounced and beautifully flamed markings and healthy knots. This wood is fired using centuries-old Japanese techniques, which creates a unique charcoal layer on the surface.
Optionally, the charcoal layer can be fixed.
