Blackwood or Shou Sugi Ban is a technique for wall and facade cladding that originally comes from Japan. Sakaide is a finish that is used for both interior and exterior finishing. The wood is sawn first flat or in a quarter, after which it is burned, brushed and oiled.
Sakaide differs from other finishes such as Shodoshima or Naoshima. Sakaide has both dark and lighter parts.
